Until relatively recently I stayed away from coding because I was convinced (without ever trying it) that it would be too difficult to learn. I’ve discovered that I’m completely wrong and that, with clear instructions, the less complicated languages are actually very easy to pick up and so I’ve decided to start writing up documentation in a series of how to’s for beginners. The later languages will be progressing at a rate of one to a handful of tags a day as I’ll be learning them with you.

The two resources I recommend are http://www.w3schools.com/ and http://www.codecademy.com/learn Both clearly explain what each command means and give you the opportunity to test out your knowledge. Code Academy is definitely more fun and probably means you’re more likely to remember it but if you want to learn concepts fast W3 is good for that.
